MISSING IN ACTION:
No new dramas for the Cowboys with coach Neil Henry sticking with the same side that went down in a tight one to Manly last weekend. Ricky Thorby and Anthony Mitchell have both been named on an extended bench but are expected to drop off if there are no late injury issues. Barnstorming forward Tariq Sims (broken leg) is a chance to return in the next couple of weeks.
The Warriors have been boosted by the returns of lock Micheal Luck and centre Konrad Hurrell after both missed the loss to Cronulla on Sunday. But while they get two back, two more drop out with five-eighth James Maloney (knee) and prop Ben Matulino (pectoral) succumbing to injuries.
FORM:
Not much to get excited about for either side in terms of wins but there’s no doubt who is playing the better football at the moment. North Queensland have lost their last two matches but both those games were tight affairs against title contenders Canterbury and Manly. It has seen the Cowboys drop back to sixth spot but with a favourable run home their top four hopes are still very much in their hands.
It’s a much different story across the ditch with last year’s grand finalists no chance to make the finals. Last weekend’s 45-4 drubbing at home against Cronulla is the lowest point of what’s become a forgettable first season in charge for Brian McClennan. The Kiwi side have lost their last four matches and with a horror record in Townsville (losing their last seven at Dairy Farmers Stadium) that streak should continue for at least another week
